Tandem issued a voluntary recall of some lots of insulin cartridges used for its t:slim Insulin Pump out of concern that the cartridges might leak. The company warns that the affected cartridges could provide too much or too little insulin, and customers should not use them.
The lots in question, which contained 10 cartridges each, were sold on or around December 17th, 2013. Tandem estimates there are some 4,746 affected cartridges affected. Here is a list of the affected lot numbers:
It’s important to note that the leakage problem was discovered by Tandem during routine lab testing; no problems have been reported by consumers. Those impacted by the recall can call Tandem Customer Support at 1-877-801-6901 24 hours a day, 7 days a week .
Update: Tandem Expands Recall – January 20th, 2014
Tandem has expanded the initial recall to include cartridges sold between October 16th and January 10th.
