D-Parents love to give their children with Type 1 diabetes examples of adults with Type 1 who are doing great things. It’s even better when they can find examples of children with Type 1 diabetes doing amazing stuff; there’s nothing like a peer to motivate you.
For “The Sugar Free Shawn Show”, Shawn Shepheard recently profiled Anwar Boutahar, an eight-year-old with Type 1 diabetes who is clearly an overachiever. Anwar is an accomplished soccer player, has nearly earned a black belt in Taekwondo, and is active with JDRF Canada. As if he weren’t busy enough, Anwar has even started a foundation with his family to help families affected by Type 1 diabetes in Morocco.
